Drnholec is a market town on the left bank of the Dyje. It lies twelve kilometres northwest of Mikulov. The town's first written record dates to 1249.

Drnholec's Renaissance château has two storeys and a single wing and stands on a rocky promontory. The late-Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity in Drnholec was built between 1750 and 1757. The plague column in the town was completed in 1718.
